Clares & Clare Keep Family Reunion Going in 2013!

Clare Hegarty & Clare McKay , have ensured the survival of the Murphy Family Reunion by volunteering to take over its organisation in 2013. They felt holding it this year would be a bit rushed and decided on doing a proper job next year. Sue and Des Herlihy have also offered their support.
Clare Hegarty, who's the youngest of all the cousins, was understandably nervous at first with the magnitude of the task, but now is looking forward to it especially with her extended family's support. And well done to Clare McKay who is one generation down from the cousins, for taking on the job. Both uncle George McKay, and uncle Geroge Hegarty would have been proud of their daughters.

Stank Picture? Blast from the Past! July 1973

No I'm not joking! - but Stank is a tiny hamlet on the outskirts of Barrow in Furness. Stank Villa was a house Michael and James Murphy rented during Mick's time playing Rugby League for Barrow. Jim was lecturing at the local college. Paddy Murphy worked at Vicker's Shipyard during his summer break from university. Pictured next to Paddy is brother John, who'd just completed his O' Levels, and was taking a break visiting his brothers. The large guy at the back is former Barrow player, and team-mate of Mick, Steve Hogan. The other 2 on the outside are friends.

Hi Everybody,
Happy New Year. We hope you are all well. We have thoroughly enjoyed organising the Murphy Reunions since 2000. They have been a lot of fun. We are going to step back from organising the next one so we are looking to see if any of you are interested in taking it on. It could be a group of you. Sue and I are more than willing to support anyone who comes forward.
