The Murder of Julia Wallace by James Murphy

"In January 1931, Julia Wallace was found brutally murdered in the front parlour of her terraced home in the Anfield suburb of Liverpool. Her husband, William, was found guilty of wilful murder and sentenced to death by hanging. However, the verdict was overturned by the Court of Appeal and he was released. The police sought no one else in connection with the death of Julia Wallace, and after William died three years later, the file was consigned to the archives.
The Wallace Case, as it is known, is unique: it is the only not proven murder case in English legal history. Not only is it an unsolved murder, it is a perfect murder, the 'nonpareil of all murder mysteries'. Rarely a year goes by without a contribution being made to the voluminous literature on the case. The question remains, did William Wallace murder his wife on the night of Tuesday 20 January 1931? If he did not, then who did? "
The book was published in 2001 by Bluecoat Press, Liverpool and printed by Cromwell Press, Trowbridge, Wiltshire. This was Jim's first factual book after he'd written the action/spy thriller triology, Cedar, Juniper and Ash.
Jim has returned to fiction, and is currently adding the finishing touches to his current novel - a murder mystery based in Liverpool --- watch this space. Jim is based in Barrow and has four children: Christopher, Liz, Sophie and Mary. Mary is mum to his granddaughter, Molly. Jim works as a Mud Engineer Analyst Manager on Middle East Oi/gasl rigs.
