In Loughborough's St. Mary's RC Church Bulletin, I read the following:

"We have been informed that the Post Office are printing
Christmas Madonna stamps this year – but that they are not telling anyone so that,
because nobody will know they are available, nobody will buy them and next year
the PO will be able to say ‘There is no demand for these, so we will not print them
again.’ PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU BUY MADONNA Christmas stamps; if they
are not available you can ask them to order them for you."
