Where to buy Liverpool VCs.

In Liverpool local heroes tend to be drawn from football or the music business or from the period when the city was one of Britain's greatest ports. Although it has produced many military heroes, only double VC winner Noel Chavasse has had the recognition he deserves. James Murphy, in this meticulously researched and sympathetically written book, sets the record straight. His biographies of twenty-three Liverpool VC winners show what extraordinary sacrifices the men of the city made when they were called on to fight for their country. He gives graphic accounts of the exploits that won them the VC, and he recalls other actions in which they were involved. His main purpose is to show these men at war, but he also provides an insight into their civilian lives, and he records the times they lived in. And he dispels the myths and corrects the errors of fact that have grown up around them.

Road to Recovery !

Frank Murphy is back home and recovering well from his heart attack. Mary Flynn is also back home after her triple by-pass on the 21st August. Here she is pictured visiting brother Frank 2 weeks before her operation(nephew Anthony in background). And positive news from Frank Cannon - it turns out the suspected cancer on his spine were harmless blood clots. Our Lady does it again! Thank you all for your support and prayers.

God Bless.

Just in from Rita (Murphy) Cunningham about Cecilia (Murphy) Acocella and her husband Tony:

Spoke to Cis today; her operation on her thyroid is on 16th September. She may have to the whole gland taken out. Tony has had his operation on his back; so we will see how that goes. So if you can remember them both in your prayers as I am sure you will. I guess all the kids will be organising 'the care plan'.

Happy Birthday Laura!

Happy Birthday to Laura (née Gomez) Murphy who is 91 years young today! Laura and Michael Murphy recently "sired" their 100th direct descendent when Tony(Laura's grandson) and Bluma's baby Jack was born in the USA in June. This is adding up their own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren! We believe Jack was the 100th, or was he the 99th or 101st? I stand to be corrected! We definitely know it is now 100+ as we speak!.
God Bless You Laura and Michael and all your descendents and relatives all over the world!
