Lottie Murphy Working in Guatemalan Orphanage

Danny & Pat Murphy's daughter Charlotte, and her friend Esther have been doing voluntary work at an orphanage in Guatemala for the last few weeks.They are really enjoying it and want to stay longer.

Here is a message from Charlotte describing her experiences.

"Hey everybody, I am volunteering in an orphanage in Guatemala where there are over 90 children without families aged 7 months - 18 years. I am working with the babies everyday. There are 12 under the age of two, so I have been feeding, changing nappies, playing and rocking them to sleep! Some American volunteers have set up a website (http://www.morethancompassion.org/) which has some great videos and photos of the children if you would like to have a look - Alejandra, Alicia, Emilio and Bryan are the youngest and are very easy as they just sit and play happily. I also look after Eddie, Franklin, Luz, Galilea, Glendy, Pablo, Juan Pablo and Claudia who are all older and have a lot more energy! I'm loving every minute of it and will be so sad when I leave as these children are amazingly positive despite what they have been through - Alica (9 months) was left in a dustbin at 1 month and had to stay in hospital for a further 2 months as she was unable to eat due to mouth ulcers, she is still small, as you can see but is so happy and engaged everyday. Three boys aged 4 - 10 (Anthony, Miguel and Diego) were found last month abandoned in a hotel room in the city centre. From looking and talking to them they seem so happy here, always playing together. I'm so happy I came as it makes me realise how lucky I am to have such an amazing family!
